Tried a new product? Let everyone know what you think. Is it a hit or a stinker?

Heat Reflective Paint - Thoughts???

Post by Eugene » Tue Nov 08, 2016 11:14 pm

Has anyone used heat reflective paints?

I have come across Shieldcoat's Thermobond Heat Reflective Paint (also known as HRC).

Here is a little quote from the manufacturer about the product:
It's the ultimate surface coating that will not only give you the best-looking roof in the street, it will help keep you cool on even the hottest of days!
Sheildcoat also claim that the product reflects 88% of heat from the sun in the form of visible light and infrared.

I came across a product data sheet pdf which has a few more details, and also explains the proper application technique (I have the file on my computer, but I think it can be found online).

The paint is applied by airless spray using a 521 tip size. Mouldshield C needs to be applied first, then 1 coat of Shieldseal W Plus with 517 airless tip, followed by 2 coats of Thermobond HRC with 521 airless tip.

But has anyone actually used it?

I tried looking around online, but I could not find many user reviews.

I am especially interested in seeing if you have found if the product is effective in reducing the heat in a house. Is it good marketing, or does it actually work?

Look forward to your replies, thanks guys.

Been a few years since I have been on here, just wondering if the forum is still active.
Have we got any of the original Green Painters still around on here?
