AS/NZS 2311:2017 Guide to the painting of buildings

The Australian Standard AS/NZS 2311:2017 Guide to the painting of buildings is the recognised industry standard for the painting industry. All work performed by a licensed or qualified painter should meet this standard.

Here is a summary of some of the key points from the standard:

  • Three coats must be applied to any bare plaster or timber surface
  • When paint is applied by spray to a plasterboard surface, the first and last coat must be 'back-rolled'; ie. it must have a roller finish.
